i have decided i am going to try to write a novel in the month of july. i am making this post in hopes that a public declaration of my intent will shame me into continuing to putting the needed work in. my stated goal is 50000 words because that is the goal for national write a novel month but i'll be fucked if i am going to write my first novel in fucking november.
why am i doing this now? simple: i want to be a writer but i have had my doubt as to my ability to ever finish anything. interestingly, my recent acquisition of an iphone has resulted in me having a surprisingly smooth flow of creative output so i figure i'm gonna write a practice novel: something with a basic story that's free to be a little hokey and i don't really care about. that's right: i'm writing a romance novel on my iphone. with pirates! and, i have a head start. i have over 1700 words written. i plan on repersenting my progress with this wide-bodied aircraft ditching at sea:

on a slightly different subject: i have created a "lolcat" or cat macro which i feel has the potential to lift the medium into the ranks of pure art. in the interest of advancing the form, i present it to you now:
